ASSEMBLY LAUNCH

Youth Assembly Launches with Enthusiasm at St Mary’s Cathedral

The Catholic Youth Assembly was officially launched with great energy and enthusiasm at St Mary’s Cathedral Parish Centre, bringing together just under 120 youth and young adults from across the Archdiocese. The event featured key addresses from Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, Vicar General Father Vincent Glynn, and Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) Director Adam Phillips, who each spoke on the importance of youth engagement in the life of the Church.

Reflecting on the event, Adam Phillips expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating, "Following the review on youth, it is inspiring to embark on this synodal journey with the young people of our Archdiocese as we discern the formation of a Catholic Youth Council. The level of engagement at the launch was incredibly encouraging, and we look forward to walking this journey together to provide a voice for our youth."

The Catholic Youth Assembly marks a significant step towards increased youth involvement in the Church, with a vision to create a dynamic and representative Catholic Youth Council. The next milestones in this journey are the first Listening and Discernment Sessions on Communion, Mission and Participation, which will serve as a foundational gathering for the formation of the council. With a strong start and a clear vision, the Catholic Youth Assembly is set to become a transformative movement, empowering young Catholics to take an active role in their faith and community.
